When construction begins, students and teachers will be dispersed, the District at the last meeting had no plan to restore what they are displacing. They suggested that if students are in magnets but transfer to a school that does not have the program they are currently in- for two to three years while under construction, there is no guarantee the students will be given a seat back. The last time district made such drastic changes with no plan was during desegregation resulting in Black educators losing their jobs and interpersonal effects of bussing that still have not been properly addressed.
Mays Redevelopment

Have we wanted changes and upgrades to the library? Yes. Is the library and people of the area deserving of that? Yes. But who voted on including a CAT CAFE????? Not something we need, or refelctive of the community, most of us don't own pets and it's likely we sure don't want to be reading alongside them at the library. Voice your wants people or accept what you're given.
Library Redevelopment

Our community is at a crossroads. Redevelopment is happening fast—and without community involvement, we risk losing what makes Goulds special, like: cultural heritage, small town vibes and a sense of community.
Miami is packing people in all over. We want to maintain our southern charm. Just about every predominately Black area in Miami is being erased and replaced- what will Gould be? The Beautiful, Culturally Southern City? Or the forgotten community that once was?
